Terms and Conditions for Carpet Cleaners SE16

Carpet cleaning technician preparing equipment for a scheduled serviceThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which carpet cleaning services are provided by Carpet Cleaners SE16. By making a booking, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. They are designed to clarify the service relationship, explain how appointments are arranged, and set expectations for payment, cancellations, liability, and waste handling. Where the words we, us, or our are used, they refer to the service provider. Where the words you or your are used, they refer to the customer receiving the carpet cleaning service.

These terms apply to domestic and commercial carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, stain treatment, upholstery-related work where included in the agreed service, and any additional cleaning tasks accepted in writing or by confirmation message. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law. If a specific written agreement has been made for a particular job, that agreement will apply alongside these terms unless it clearly states otherwise. For the avoidance of doubt, general marketing statements, verbal discussions, and estimates do not override confirmed service terms unless expressly agreed.

Professional carpet cleaner reviewing booking details before arrivalThe purpose of these terms is to provide a fair and practical framework for carpet cleaning services in England and Wales. They should be read carefully before booking. If any part of these terms is unclear, the customer should raise the issue before the appointment is confirmed. The service may involve the use of water, detergents, stain removers, extraction machines, or other specialist equipment, and the customer accepts that cleaning results can vary depending on carpet fibre, age, condition, previous treatment, and level of soiling.

Booking Process

Bookings are accepted subject to availability and confirmation. A booking request may be made by phone, email, online form, or other approved method. A booking is not confirmed until we have acknowledged the request and provided a date, time window, and scope of work. The customer is responsible for checking that all details are correct, including room count, type of carpet, access arrangements, parking restrictions, and any known stains or special requirements. If the customer provides incomplete or inaccurate information, the final price, timing, or suitability of the service may need to be adjusted.

Cleaning team carrying out carpet treatment in a residential propertyAll carpet cleaning appointments are subject to reasonable access, safe working conditions, and availability of water, electricity, and suitable space for equipment. If our team arrives and the service cannot proceed because of access problems, lack of power, restricted entry, unsafe conditions, or other issues outside our control, we may charge a call-out fee or partial fee to cover time and travel. We may also reschedule where appropriate, but this is not guaranteed. The customer should move fragile, valuable, or heavy items before the appointment unless otherwise agreed in writing. We are not responsible for moving items that were not agreed as part of the service.

Service Scope and Customer Responsibilities

The agreed service will usually cover the cleaning methods and rooms described in the booking confirmation. Any extra tasks requested on the day, such as additional stain treatment, deep cleaning, deodorising, or treatment of neglected areas, may incur additional charges. We will use reasonable skill and care when carrying out the work. However, carpet cleaners in SE16 and across the UK cannot guarantee the removal of every stain, odour, mark, or pre-existing defect. Some substances can permanently alter carpet fibres or dyes, and some older carpets may show wear, shading, or colour variation after cleaning.

Before work begins, the customer should disclose any known issues that could affect the result or safety of the service, including pre-existing damage, colour loss, delicate fibres, moth damage, underlay issues, prior cleaning attempts, or use of unsuitable products. If a carpet is particularly delicate, heavily worn, urine-damaged, or at risk of shrinkage, we may decline to proceed or may ask for written acknowledgement before continuing. The customer is responsible for keeping children and pets away from wet areas during and after the service until the carpet is safe to use.

Where furniture is moved by agreement, the customer accepts that minor marks, scratches, or floor disturbances may occur if items are unstable, poorly assembled, or already damaged. We will take reasonable care, but we are not liable for hidden weaknesses or pre-existing defects in furniture, fixtures, or fittings. If there is any concern about electrical items, delicate décor, or valuable objects, these should be removed or secured before the appointment. We also recommend that the customer checks any manufacturer care instructions, as some materials require specialist handling.

Payments

Prices may be quoted as a fixed price, an estimate, or a price based on hourly or area-related factors. Unless expressly stated otherwise, all prices are in pounds sterling and may be subject to change if the scope of work changes. Any estimate is based on the information provided at the time of booking and may be revised if the actual condition, size, or complexity differs from what was described. The customer will be told about any change in price before additional work is started wherever reasonably possible.

Payment is due on completion of the service unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance. We may accept cash, bank transfer, card payment, or other approved methods. If a deposit is requested to secure the booking, the deposit amount and any refund conditions will be explained at the time of booking. Failure to pay on time may result in late payment charges, recovery action, or suspension of future bookings, where lawful. The customer must ensure that the payment method used is valid and that sufficient funds are available.

For business customers, invoices may be issued with separate payment terms. If payment is not made by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest and reasonable costs in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, where applicable. Any discounts, promotions, or package prices are offered at our discretion and may be withdrawn or amended for future bookings without notice. Refunds are not normally given where the service has been completed in accordance with the agreed scope, but we will review genuine concerns fairly and in line with our liability obligations.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

If the customer wishes to cancel or change a booking, notice should be provided as early as possible. The amount of notice required may depend on the size and nature of the job. For standard domestic carpet cleaning, at least 24 hours’ notice is preferred. For larger or commercial carpet cleaners SE16 appointments, more notice may be required. If insufficient notice is given, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover lost time, preparation, and travel costs. Where a deposit has been paid, all or part of it may be retained if the cancellation is late or the appointment cannot be filled.

We may reschedule or cancel a booking if there are circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, vehicle breakdown, illness, staff shortages, equipment failure, or access issues at the property. In such cases, we will try to offer an alternative appointment. We are not liable for losses caused by unavoidable operational disruption, provided we act reasonably and communicate the change as soon as practicable. If the customer is absent at the agreed time and has not made suitable arrangements for access, this may be treated as a late cancellation or failed appointment.

Distance selling cancellation rights may apply in limited circumstances when a contract is made at a distance, but if the customer requests that the service begin within the statutory cancellation period, they may be required to acknowledge that the right to cancel may be lost once the service is fully performed. Where the service has already started with the customer’s consent, payment will be due for the work completed up to the point of cancellation. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Liability and Limitations

We carry out carpet cleaning with reasonable skill and care, but liability is limited to losses that are foreseeable and directly caused by our negligence or breach of contract. We do not accept responsibility for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses such as lost profits, loss of business, emotional distress, or inconvenience, except where the law says otherwise. Our liability for any claim arising from the service will be limited to the amount paid for the specific service in question, unless a different limit is required by law.

We are not liable for pre-existing damage, wear and tear, hidden defects, colour loss caused by previous treatments, shrinkage caused by unsuitable carpet construction, or any deterioration due to age or manufacturing fault. While professional carpet cleaning services aim to improve appearance and hygiene, the customer acknowledges that results are influenced by material condition and history. Some spots may reappear after drying due to wicking, especially where contamination has penetrated the backing or underlay. If a carpet is especially delicate or at risk, we may recommend against certain treatments, but the final decision rests with the customer if they choose to proceed.

The customer agrees to notify us of any issue within a reasonable time after the service is completed and before the item is used extensively or further treated by a third party. Claims made after additional cleaning, repairs, or alterations by others may be difficult to assess and may be rejected where our inspection is no longer possible. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Waste Regulations and Disposal

Our carpet cleaning services are carried out in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations and environmental obligations. Waste water, extracted residue, used materials, and contaminated consumables are handled in a responsible manner. Where applicable, we will dispose of waste through lawful channels and avoid causing pollution or nuisance. The customer must not ask us to dispose of hazardous materials, sharps, chemicals, bodily fluids, asbestos-related waste, or any item that requires specialist licensed handling unless this has been expressly agreed and lawfully arranged in advance.

If the cleaning process generates waste that must be retained, transported, or disposed of separately, the customer agrees to provide accurate information about the nature of the waste. We may refuse to handle any waste that we reasonably believe to be unsafe, unlawful, or outside the scope of our usual carpet cleaning service. The customer is responsible for the lawful storage and disposal of any items removed from the premises that are not taken away as part of an agreed disposal service. We may use suitable protective measures to prevent contamination, but we cannot guarantee that all waste-related risks can be eliminated entirely.

Waste handling and disposal compliance during a carpet cleaning jobAny waste compliance issue identified during the visit may affect whether the service continues. If contaminated carpets, residue, or belongings present an environmental or health risk, we may pause the work until the issue is addressed. The customer agrees to co-operate with lawful requests aimed at ensuring safe handling, containment, and disposal. We do not accept responsibility for waste introduced by the customer, occupants, contractors, or third parties before our arrival, and we are not obliged to remove or treat materials outside the agreed scope.

Complaints, Force Majeure, and General Terms

If the customer is dissatisfied with any part of the service, they should raise the matter promptly so it can be reviewed. We may ask for photographs, a description of the issue, and an opportunity to inspect the work. This does not affect any legal rights the customer may have, but it helps resolve concerns fairly and efficiently. No informal statement by staff or contractors creates a warranty beyond these terms unless confirmed in writing by an authorised representative.

We shall not be liable for failure or delay in performing the service where the cause is beyond our reasonable control. This includes fire, flood, storm, pandemic restrictions, industrial action, transport disruption, interruption of utilities, acts of government, or other force majeure events. In such cases, we may suspend, reschedule, or cancel the booking without liability for indirect loss. If a force majeure event continues for an extended period, either party may withdraw from the affected booking on reasonable notice.

Final service terms page with governing law and customer agreementIf any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Any failure by us to enforce a right or remedy on one occasion does not waive that right for future use. These Terms and Conditions, together with the confirmed booking details, represent the entire agreement between the parties relating to the service. They may be updated from time to time, but the version in force at the time of booking will apply to that booking.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from them or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law requires otherwise. If the customer is based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, local mandatory rights may still apply to the extent required by law.
